OU Research Group Confirm Planet-mass Objects in Extragalactic Systems
A University of Oklahoma research group is reporting the detection of extragalactic planet-mass objects in a second and third galaxy beyond the Milky Way after the first detection in 2018. With the existing observational resources, it is impossible to directly detect planet-mass objects beyond the Milky Way and to measure its rogue planetary population.
OU Awarded $2.5 Million Research Grant to Understand and Predict the Bird Flu
The University of Oklahoma is taking a key role in a new project that could help surveillance and pandemic preparedness for avian influenza viruses that infect humans, wild birds and poultry. The National Science Foundation awarded a $2.5 million grant to OU to investigate the diversity and transmission of avian influenza viruses. The grant that will be paid out over five years is in the area of disease ecology and public health.
