OU Looks Forward with Reorganized Administration
NORMAN –The University of Oklahoma announced today an executive restructuring aimed to streamline reporting, bring in fresh, diverse perspectives, and improve its cost structure. The reorganization reduces the number of executives who report to the President from 25 to 17, a 32 percent reduction. The executive staff includes not only Norman campus leaders, but also individuals with Health Sciences Center, Tulsa and university-wide responsibilities.
“When our university strives to be more efficient and cost effective, college can remain within the reach of more students. During this time of change, we will continue to focus on academic excellence, student success, employee engagement and efficiency. These first steps are needed to help maintain current tuition levels and work toward faculty pay raises,” said OU President Jim Gallogly.
On the Norman campus, the position of Executive Vice President for Administration and Finance will be eliminated. The Chief Financial Officer, Chief Human Resources Officer and Vice President for Facilities and Services will report directly to the president.
The areas of Enrollment and Student Financial Services, University Community, OU Outreach and the Colleges of Business, Law, and Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences will be part of the Norman Office of the Provost, a more traditional reporting relationship, to better align those functions with student and academic needs.
The positions of Vice President for Government Relations and Executive Director of Federal Programs will be combined into a single position of Executive Director for Government Relations reporting to the General Counsel. Information Technology will report to the Chief Financial Officer. Additionally, the leadership team in the Development office will be reorganized.
OU will conduct national recruitment searches for the following positions: Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Vice President for Human Resources, Vice President for Development, Vice President for Student Affairs, Vice President for Public Affairs, Executive Director for Government Relations and Chief Auditor. Various university executives have been appointed to fill these roles on an interim basis to ensure continuity of operations during the recruitment effort.
