Help for Students Impacted

by Harvey in the Houston Area



Many members of our OU Family have been directly affected by the tragic and unprecedented storms in Houston. The University is ready to assist students impacted by the disaster, working to coordinate services for students from the Houston area. Vicky Bumgarner, Volunteer Coordinator in the Office of Leadership and Volunteerism, will serve as the Student Affairs point person for those affected.

For students and families who are affected by the catastrophic storms in Texas, OU is ready to assist.  For financial concerns, please contact Cornelia Bass, Associate Director, OU Student Financial Center at 405-325-4521.

Sooners Helping Sooners


We know many of our OU Students have been affected by Hurricane Harvey. If you or someone you know needs support, please visit the Sooners Helping Sooners website at Students can apply for an emergency grant on the SHS website or, often, students are referred to SHS by faculty or staff from the OU community.

Sooners can also donate to the SHS emergency allocation account at

Sooners Helping Sooners is a student organization that raises money from the OU community for students in need of emergency funding that could arise from various personal hardships. Their mission is to help students be successful on campus and graduate a Sooner.
