Norman campus Presidential Professors named

2012 Norman Campus Presidential Professors

Supported entirely by private donations, Presidential Professorships are designed to honor, reward, and retain top faculty members who excel at teaching and mentoring students. Highly selective, Presidential Professorships are given for four-year terms and provide an annual stipend of $10,000 for full professors and annual stipends of $5,000 for associate and assistant professors. Unless the donor prefers to be anonymous, all Presidential Professorships are given in the name of the donor or as the donor designates.

OU’s 2012 Norman campus Presidential Professors were named during a ceremony on April 5.

The Norman faculty recipients are: Tian-You Yu, associate professor, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Gerald Tuma Presidential Professor; Evgeni Fedorovich, professor, School of Meteorology, Edith Kinney Gaylord Presidential Professor; Stephanie Hom, assistant professor, Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Linguistics, President’s Associates Presidential Professor; Ralph Doty, professor, Department of Classics and Letters, Joseph Paxton Presidential Professor; David Schmidtke, associate professor, School of Chemical, Biological and Materials Engineering, President’s Associates Presidential Professor; Ingo Schlupp, professor, Department of Zoology, Brian E. and Sandra O’Brien Presidential Professor; and Feng Lai, professor, School of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation Presidential Professor.
