Welcome to the Sooner family! Here is a helpful checklist of items to complete now that you are admitted to the University of Oklahoma:

#2 Obtain a U.S. Visa

Visit and click “Coming to OU” for F-1 and J-1 visa application information.

Currently in the U.S.: If you are currently attending another school in the U.S., you must have your SEVIS record (I-20 or DS-2019) transferred to OU to maintain your immigration status.  This is a separate process from your academic transfer. For more information, contact International Student Services at

Other VISA types: Prospective or current students who are in the U.S. on a visa other than F-1 or J-1/J-2 issued by OU must contact OU ISS to confirm study is allowed. For more information, visit and click “Immigration & Visa,” then “Changing Your Status.”

#3 Set Up Your OU Account

Your OU Account is your key to accessing OU resources such as email, enrollment, grades, course materials, computer labs, OU Libraries resources, and more. You will need to set up your OU account to complete your housing contract. Many OU offices will only communicate with you via official OU email account. Please check it regularly.

Click here to set up your account. You'll need your Sooner ID number (included in your admissions letter) to create your account. Once your account has been set up, you'll see your OUNet ID (4 letters and 4 numbers). Take a moment to write this ID and your new password down. You'll use this to access all things OU!

If you need assistance, please visit or call OU IT at 405-325-4357.

#4 Submit Your Enrollment Commitment

If you are a freshman admitted for fall or summer submit your $250 enrollment commitment by May 1, 2017. This commitment will secure your place at OU. Enrollment commitments made after this date will be accepted on a space available basis.

#5 Choose Your University Housing

Housing contracts are now available! Click here to complete your contract. At this time, you may rank the communities you wish to live in. Roommate request and roommate matching will open in February 2017.

There is no fee to submit your housing contract, but you must submit your enrollment commitment by May 1, 2017, to receive your housing assignment. The sooner you submit your contract, the better! Housing requests will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you have any questions, please contact OU Housing & Food at 405-325-2511 or
