As the Vice President of the Office of University Community, I oversee all diversity initiatives within the University of Oklahoma, ensuring that all three of OU's campuses are maintaining diverse and inclusive communities. We hold that a diverse and inclusive community is a necessary condition for excellence in all endeavors at the University of Oklahoma.
The Office of University Community works closely with students, faculty, and staff to ensure that all areas of campus life are embraced in our common goal. We also work closely with President Boren, University administration, and college deans to broaden the diversity of the pool of applicants for faculty and staff positions. Through careful collaboration and strategic planning, we assist the OU in its mission to steadily increase its commitment to providing a diverse and enjoyable educational experience to all members of the OU Family.
While the University has experienced tight budgetary times, we have made great strides over the past three years. The University has persevered to be very supportive of our mission, including supporting our efforts for diverse faculty hires. Our deans have also started hiring diversity and inclusion officers for their specific colleges to further our impact in making our campus more diverse.
On our website, we showcase the transformational work that has gone into building our community up. Our work is far from over, and we will continue to challenge ourselves in order to achieve the highest levels of excellence attainable.
